From humble beginnings as a singing waiter in Queens, to the man Sinatra called “the best Singer in the business”, Tony Bennett’s career spanned an astounding 70 years. His secret? “I stayed with the great songs.”
Bennett’s peerless renditions of timeless American classics such as ‘The Good Life’, and ‘But Beautiful’, were exceeded only by his ability to create new standards, such as ’I Wanna Be Around’ and his signature song, ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco’.
Tonight we honour his legacy with songs and stories from a prolific career.

Simone’s Grandfather was just 16 years old when he served in WWI. He didn't speak of his time in the trenches until he was interviewed 70 years later...
From the morale-boosting marches that led a nation to battle, to the tender ballads from the Forces Sweethearts – These were the songs that gathered families around the piano and fortified a generation.
Sharing wartime songs, family lore and verbatim accounts, Simone shares an inspiring true story of survival. In loving remembrance of her Grandfather, Charles ‘Len’ Pooley, and all the brave young soldiers who served in World War One and Two.
